The Wall of Faces

In conjunction with the local initiative "AETN Salutes Arkansas Vietnam Veterans" and the premiere of Ken Burns's "The Vietnam War," AETN encouraged the public to help collect missing photos of the Arkansans killed in action in the Vietnam War for The Wall of Faces, a project of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund. To preserve the legacy of those who sacrificed all in Vietnam, the VVMF is committed to finding a photo to go with each of the more than 58,000 names onThe Wall of Faces, which allows family and friends to share memories, post pictures and connect with each other. When AETN began the project in early2017, photos of more than 240 Arkansans were missing from the wall. By the summer of 2018, every Arkansan on the wall was represented with a photo. AETN received this note from a family member of one of the Arkansans who lost their lives in the Vietnam War:

We are extremely honored to see him there. He been gone since 1967, but his loss remain deep within our hearts. Some days we can talk about him without shedding a tear, and other days the tears flow like a river. He was only 22, just aboy fighting for his country. He was much younger but braver than I would have ever been at age 22, leaving home, going out of the country to an unknown place,to fight what was known as the enemy. Wow, I as went through the many pages for the soldiers who lost their lives in Arkansas, I can only imagine what their families must have gone through because I know what it did to mine. Many broken hearts, Many words unspoken, Many sleepless nights, Many unforgettable tears, Many questions as to why, Many long nights and lonely days.
